According to Norse mythology Ragnarök (/ragnarɔk/) is a series of major events causing the death of many mythological figures and ultimately resulting in the rebirth of the earth. However drastic this may sound, Ragnarok in the PM&C labs is merely the name given to the new server (which replaces Groa, see below). An electronic death and rebirth if you like.
Using the word 'new' to describe Ragnarok (see Ragnarok Specs) is only accurate insofar that it has not been a server before.
In short, Ragnarok provides the following services: the ChemEngWiki (powered by MediaWiki) on an Apache HTTP web server. Project tracking with Redmine and file hosting over three protocols: HTTP (Apache), SMB (Windows shares, Samba) and FTP (vsftpd).
