Windows Update

Campus has an automatic Windows Update mirror. It is probably best to install Windows XP Service Pack 2 from ftp.up.ac.za to consolidate many of the updates to date.
How to use:
- Right-Click this link.
- Select "Save Link Target As..."
- Select some location on your computer.
- Browse to the file.
- Right-click on the file and select "Merge"
Now Windows will update from a server on campus. You can check this in the Windows Security Centre (If you already have Service Pack 2 for Windows XP). Note that if you click the Windows Update Icon to get updates immediately, Windows will try to connect to www.microsoft.com to update. The local updating will only work with the automatic updates. The updating schedule can be changed using the "Automatic Update" setting in the Control Panel.
