Summary

Humidity is known to affect lubricity testing of certain surface materials and lubricants.

The control of water vapour content of gasses in our tests chamber is therefore an important part in ensuring repeatable results. With a good control system research done on understanding how humidity affects lubricity becomes more efficient and accurate.

T19 was made to be mobile and can be used in any section of our laboratory. A sealed environment is however recommended. The control parameters was optimised on the SRV test rig which has a sealable door.

T19 could be used on the HFRR as well with the adaptations made to have a sealable perspex box constructed in 2013.

The original design was implemented in 2013 by John Wittstock. In 2016 T19 received a redesign and several upgrades to its piping and control systems to increase it's efficiency. Several new features were also added to help researchers. One such feature that has become invaluable is teh ability to operate at constant humidity or constant vapour pressure.
