The Pensky Martin Closed Cup Tester in the Tribology Lab used to determine the flash point of petroleum products and lubricants.

The flashpoint of a substance is the lowest temperature at which it will ignite and momentarily burn once exposed to a naked flame. The Pensky Martin Closed Cup Tester can be used to accurately determine the flash point of a lubricant or diesel.
