The slug-flow control rig

This unit, copied from a setup done by Ingvald Bårdsen under supervision of Espen Storkaas and Heidi Sivertsen at NTNU, models severe slugging behaviour in a pipeline/riser system.

The one at the University of Pretoria was build by Bernard Ligthelm in 2005 and is known as rig number 7 within the PMC lab. Several modifications has been made by the students to this rig. Presently the rig has one control valve, two pressure transmitters and one flow transmitter. These can be seen in the figures below.

Here are the manufacturers of the instrumentation. Their contract details can be found on the main wiki: Pressure Transmitter no.1 - Gems Sensors (Does not exist anymore) Pressure Transmitter no. 2 - Burkert (Model 8314) Flow Transmitter - Burkert (Model 8305) Control Valve - Burkert
