Email Notification

The project tracker (redmine) as well as the wiki (MediaWiki) support user notification via e-mail. The instructions below will help you configure this service.

Initial Configuration

MediaWiki

MediaWiki requires users to validate (confirm) their e-mail address before notifications can be used. After you've logged in, click the My Preferences link in the top bar of the wiki. The E-mail section (under User Profile) contains a link to validate your e-mail address. Click this link and follow the instructions (which will include the sending of a validation email and the confirming of an address).

Redmine

Redmine requires no initial e-mail configuration.

User Preferences

After you have confirmed and checked the e-mail address linked to your MediaWiki or Redmine account you can proceed to configure your mail settings as personal preference dictates.

MediaWiki

On the same page where address confirmation was done (Preferences) the E-mail section allows you to select the events for which you want to be notified. Note that you will not be notified for changes that you make with your own account.

The address from which you will receive MediaWiki notifications is www-data@ragnarok.up.ac.za.

Redmine

The E-mail notifications section of the your account on redmine allows you to change you notification settings.

The address from which you will receive Redmine notifications is redmine@ragnarok.up.ac.za.
