== Send mail in Gmail as if it's from your UP address ==
* Log into Gmail and click on the "settings" link at the top right
* Now go to "Accounts and import"
* Under "Send Mail as:" click the "Send mail from another address" button
* Follow the instructions.

Once you have done this, when you compose a new message (top left, under the "Gmail" icon), you can choose a "From" address from the list you have set up.

== Back up your UP mail on Gmail ==
Gmail can be set up to fetch copies of your UP mail so that you can access them from anywhere. Here's how:

* Log into Gmail and click on the "settings" link at the top right
* Now go to "Accounts and import"
* Under "Check mail using POP3" click the "Add POP3 mail account" button.
* Follow the instructions. The mail server's name is "mx1.up.ac.za", the username is in the form p<personnel number> and the password should be known to you. (see [[Managing passwords]] for information on this).
* Make sure "Leave a copy of received mail on server" is checked in the options.
